It was supposed to be one of the most important moments of their lives, but Pranav Jha and Victoria Jha found themselves trapped in an elevator on their wedding day.
The newlyweds were headed to their wedding reception at the Grand Bohemian hotel in North Carolina when their elevator got stuck between the first and second floor. They were stuck for two hours with four other guests, including Victoria’s sister.
Efforts were made to repair the lift, but firefighters had to eventually come to the rescue. Pranav recalled the moment when the elevator stopped abruptly, “We’ve got up maybe five feet, and then boom, doors kind of stuck.
The door started to open, so I could see like the concrete wall right in front of me, and I could see the concrete wall behind me. I was like, that’s not normal.”
The Charlotte Fire Department shared a photo of the couple and firefighters on their Facebook page, congratulating the newlyweds and clarifying that they were not crashing the wedding but responding to an “elevator entrapment” call.
Thankfully, no one required medical attention, and all six trapped individuals were rescued and reunited with their loved ones.
Life can be unpredictable, and this incident is a reminder that things can go wrong even on the most special occasions. Despite missing their reception, Pranav and Victoria can now look back on their wedding day with a unique and unforgettable story to tell.
